When it comes to philanthropy, 1st Waste gives in various ways, including cash donations, grants, in-kind gifts, sponsorships, joint marketing initiatives and pro bono services.
We promote workplace giving through employee matching gifts programmes and other efforts that encourage our workers to give their time and money to various charities.
It’s been our goal to build win-win partnerships and through giving to local charities we have wanted to make a difference in our community.
We’ve found that nothing pulls people together better than a common goal. We encourage our employees to get involved as a team and rally behind the cause.
Whether it’s hosting pre or post work walk and run groups or doing sponsored swims it is a great way to improve the health of our team while increasing morale in the company and raising funds for good causes.
We pick local and national charities to partner based upon our values.
We invite our customers and suppliers to get involved and find that this creates a loyalty that goes beyond the day to day working relationship.
As waste management specialists, we are focused on playing our small part in saving the planet and the environments we are operating in.
From planting trees to clearing the local beaches of litter we seek a natural connection between us and our charitable partner.
We think it’s about supporting charitable organisations that are a good fit for us.

WasteAid Gala Dinner Event
More than £100,000 was raised on the night for the charity WasteAid at a spectacular gala dinner hosted by Biffa on 11th May 2022.
As one of Biffa key business partners, 1st Waste attended and provided sponsorship at the event at the iconic Oxford Natural History Museum. The money was raised from table sponsorship, along with individual donations and a raffle.
WasteAid’s mission is to see a world in which waste causes no harm, and where people in poverty are empowered to recover its value. The money raised from the event will be used specifically to help the charity expand its work in fighting plastic pollution in Cameroon, building a circular economy network in Gambia, and supporting waste picker groups in South Africa.
